Exchange of views on the public access to documents with the European Ombudsman

Civil liberties MEPs to exchange views with European Ombudsman on the functioning and future of the access to documents regulation.

LIBE Members will hold an exchange of views with the European Ombudsman, Emily O’Reilly, on the topic of public access to documents. The exchange of views will take place on 21 April, between 15:00-15:45h.

The exchange aims at looking at the practical perspective of access of documents as carried out by the European Ombudsman, in accordance with Regulation 1049/2001. It also aims at debating upon the shortcomings of the current Regulation and exploring ways to improve the functioning of public access to documents and to ensure an appropriate level of transparency within the EU institutions.
